SEMINAR DESCRIPTIONS
(TARGET FIELD, JUNE 22, 2011)
10:00 am - 10:45 am
01:30 pm - 02:15 pm Industrial Ethernet in the Control Panel
In this seminar we present the physical connectivity of Industrial Ethernet. What is industrial Ethernet and how does it work. At the end of this seminar you will have the knowledge needed to correctly implement an industrial Ethernet network inside of a control panel.
10:00 am - 10:45 am
01:30 pm - 02:15 pm Machine Safety
This seminar explains OSHA and ANSI safety standards and how they apply to your machines and working environment. You will have the opportunity to participate in several Hands-On exercises to help you understand how to apply a safety system into your business, in order to keep your employees on the job and prevent time loss incidents.
10:00 am - 10:45 am
01:30 pm - 02:15 pm Using Machine Vision To Solve Complex Inspection Challenges In 2011
Machine vision (the tightly integrated combination of sensors/cameras, computers and software) has been used to solve manufacturing inspection challenges in the food & beverage, automotive, electronics, bio-medical and pharmaceutical industries since the early 1980s. This seminar describes basic machine systems, illustrates traditional applications, describes the latest machine vision technologies and illustrates the class of complex, high speed, multi-camera inspection solutions that have been deployed in the last year. A glimpse into what’s next for machine vision will conclude the presentation.
10:00 am - 10:45 am CoDeSys Programming
CoDeSys is a powerful programming tool for solving a wide range of industrial automation applications. Join us for an introduction to the world of IEC61131 standardized automation programming, including ladder logic, function block, structured text and more. See how CoDeSys has been used to automate a food processing application, a biotechnology process automation application, and a railroad track refurbishing machine, to name a few.
11:00 am - 11:45 am
02:30 PM - 03:15 pm Industrial Networking - Hacking Awareness and Prevention
With the recent exposure of the Stuxnet virus and Night Dragon attacks, industrial networks are proven to be particularly vulnerable to network intrusion and manipulation. This seminar covers a collection of basic but effective hacking techniques used to gain network access, monitor traffic and potential disrupt/interfere with typical industrial networks. The intent of the seminar is to raise awareness to the methods used and then offer up simple methods of prevention for a more reliable and \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'safe\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' network.
11:00 am - 11:45 am
02:30 PM - 03:15 pm Practical Machine Guarding
This program will provide a discussion of real-world examples of machine guarding techniques for everything from common shop machines to production lines and robotic cells.
11:00 am - 11:45 am Drive Harmonics
The purpose of this presentation is to explain what a harmonic is, their effects, and how to limit them. Harmonic currents and voltages are generated by non-linear loads connected on the power distribution system. Variable Speed Drives are non linear loads that increase voltage distortion by injecting harmonic currents into the main supply. Harmonic distortion is a form of pollution that can cause problems if it increases above certain limits.
11:00 am - 11:45 am Motion - Reducing Costs using Electric Linear Actuators
- Applying electric actuators in hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
- Cost savings in maintenance, energy usage, installation costs, along with higher performance and increased production.
01:30 pm - 02:15 pm Wireless Technology Seminar
Thinking how you can benefit from industrial wireless? Join us for a wireless seminar and learn how to improve efficiency, increase reliability and gain the competitive edge with proper selection and implementation of industrial wireless technology. Wireless technology is simplifying installations, expediting process improvements and providing a means of doing things that couldn’t feasibly be done before.
02:30 pm - 03:15 pm Data Collection Made Easy
Data collection generally seams simple at first, but soon the questions and challenges start to arise. Come find out how Data Historians can provide powerful, efficient, cost-effective, and painless answers to these questions.
02:30 pm - 03:15 pm Intelligent Water - Reducing Non Revenue Water
Non-revenue water (NRW), or water that\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s been treated but is lost before it goes through a water meter, zaps profits and increases the impact of scarcity issues. The complexity of capturing NRW is a daunting problem for many utilities. Leakage from aging infrastructure, illegal or unmetered connections, and poorly calibrated meters are the most common causes of NWR. Three utilities have developed different cost-effective remote monitoring techniques for tracking flow data. Then, using an Information Portal, this flow data can be compared with water meter databases to show the differential of water in pipes against what was sold. The difference is the problem.
