X20 Bus Controller Device Net

New X20 bus controller - Open for DeviceNet and other fieldbuses.

Open for all fieldbuses
DeviceNet, Profibus DP and CANopen are the classic fieldbus systems that have succeeded on the market. Additionally, ETHERNET Powerlink is becoming a stronger force in the automation market. Using the bus controller and the remote backplane, the X20 and X67 systems as well as the XV valve manifold connections can be used as standard I/O components on all of these fieldbuses. The master can be any PLC system from any manufacturer. Standardized EDS or GSD description files allow X20, X67 and XV system components to be integrated in the respective programming environment with their fieldbus configurators and configured and programmed as usual. B&R supports the new modular I/O system from Allen Bradley for DeviceNet in addition to the standard system from Siemens, Schneider or other fieldbus device configurators.

New X20 bus controller – product highlights
The new X20 bus controllers are the continuation of the completely modular strategy used for the X20 I/O slices. Made up of a base module, a supply module to supply the voltage for the entire system, and a fieldbus interface, the bus controller is an extremely flexible fieldbus connection. The highlights of the new X20 bus controllers can be summarized as follows:
• Exchangeable fieldbus module - Fieldbus interfaces for all standard fieldbuses and real-time Ethernet;
• Modular bus controller with extremely compact dimensions –
37.5 mm (1.5 inches) width;
• Seamlessly expandable with IP67 modules and valve manifold connections;
• Bus-independent backplane;
• Separate supply for I/O and system.

Flexible design
Due to the modular design the entire backplane can be preinstalled. With the removable terminals, the entire system can be wired without any electronic modules. When commissioning, the individual modules are put in place. This is where the I/O system is adapted to the fieldbus being used. Furthermore, the bus controller does not need to be programmed in order to transfer or receive the I/O data on the fieldbus. It can be configured on the fieldbus master.

Modularity & Compact Size
The X20 system proofs the fact that modularity and compact design can coexist. With a 37.5 mm (1.5 inch) system width, the X20 bus controller is one of the smallest devices on the market.
The DeviceNet bus controller is optimally suited for market demands in the USA. Additionally, the ETHERNET Powerlink bus controller even has two RJ45 connecters integrated for economical daisy chain wiring.
